Biography

Olivia Fiechter remembers that she started picking up a squash racket at the age of five. Her mother, Stacy, was a multi-sport athlete at Springside School, and her father Bayard, a minor squash player at Trinity College. She grew up a few blocks from the Philadelphia Cricket Club, and she says, “I started playing squash at the Cricket Club, and they have an amazing program for junior players, so it was easy to get excited about it. game. I met so many friends while playing there."

 

Just as there are "gym rats" dedicated to basketball, there are young squash enthusiasts called "court rats", and Olivia Fiechter becomes one of them, spending all her available time on squash courts. She won the Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 National Championships. At the junior US Open, which includes competitors from other nations, she won the title in the under-15 and under-17 categories.

 

She represented the United States at the World Junior Championships in 2011 in Boston and 2013 in Wrocław, and each time the American team finished second overall, the best result ever achieved by an American team, regardless of its level. In the meantime, she has the opportunity to play for the United States women's team which is taking part in the 2012 World Team Championships in Nîmes.

 

She joined Princeton University where she became the No. 13 player. In 2018, once her studies were completed, she joined the professional circuit and during her third tournament played, she won her first title in Rhode Island in November 2018. March 2019, during the Texas Open and when she is 52nd in the world, she beats a top 10 player Tesni Evans for the first time. Thanks to these good performances, she joined the top 50 in April 2019. In June 2021, she joined the top 20.

 

In October 2021 at the US Open, she beat her compatriot world No. 3 and training partner Amanda Sobhy for the first time and after a victory against Nele Gilis climbed for the first time in the semi-finals of a platinum tournament. With these good results, she takes a spectacular seven place in the November 2021 ranking to reach 13th in the world. She joined the top 10 in March 2022.
